The MPs are raring to increase their already fat salaries yet again at the expense of the people.
A minister that was removed from his office was reinstated, the first time this has occured.
The senseless killing of a man who was just doing his job by a group that should be sent to Mathew and Hunter where they cannot do anymore harm to another human being.
It has now become too obvious that MPs are only interested in themselves and not in the people of this beautiful country.
From 1980 till now, the public servants have only had a small increase, due to introduction of Government Renumeration Tribunal (GRT) three years ago.
On the other hand, the MPs have increased their salary plus package at least six times in the last ten years.
Just over a year ago, they even added on to their salary VT two million simply because most MPs were not using this allocation for the people but for themselves.
It is the case of, if you cannot make the MPs to use their allocations for the people then give it to the MPs rather than penalising them for misuse of public funds.
They seem to be getting away without punishment from virtually anything they unethically got involved in.
This is a clear sign of the selfishness which should expose this unwanted character that does not support an attribute of good leadership.
If they are leaders for the people, they will be ensuring that the people benefit first rather they themselves.
When the Prime Minister removed the Health Minister, at least the public felt that some discipline was taking place at the highest level.
This was short lived, as he was reinstated causing the public to lapse back to thinking that there is some hidden reason for this maneuvering which is probably that is not good for the general public.
We have witnessed repeated movements that are not good for the public but for individual MPs and their party.
Another case saw the Prime Minister removing the Air Vanuatu portfolio from Minister Harry Iauko only to be given back to him.
Air Vanuatu has been one of the reasons why the government has a deep hole in its budget, and last year and this year they have difficulty trying to fill this financial void.
It was decided to keep the airline going by injecting VT four hundred million two years ago.
Basically the government does not have enough money and depends a lot on the Aid Donors for most of its development.
If the Aid Donors pull out their support, the country will collapse financially.
It is tragic indeed that the very people we trust to build up this country, are tearing it down by some of the foolish destructive political decisions as in Air Vanuatu.
Another case that politics has ruined is that of NISCOL now in court. Of course this case has now been delayed over and over again in the hope that it will not be completed until after the National Election because it could invalidate some MPs from running in the up-coming election, if they are proven guilty. This is now common talk in the streets and in the nakamals.
Now, we hear the Electoral Office retracting its National Election Day as from the 3October 30 , as being overridden by the Prime Minister.
Is this legal or part of another political maneuvering for whose benefit? Whatever the reason might be, when the public is not clear, nor satisfied with the reasoning given, it will leave a lot of unanswered questions that should not be there before the upcoming election. It is sad that the public are seeing signs that are not giving a clear picture nor clear direction as to what to expect as things by the look of it are, que sera sera - whatever will be will be.
All of these things are senseless and are summed up by the senseless killing of an innocent man just doing his job.
There is no logical reasoning under the sun that could possibly justify the killing of this innocent man.
Of course, the culprits must be punished by the full force of the law and the Efate Vaturisu Council of Chiefs must impose tougher measures on those who come from other islands, and are involved in such atrocious non valued inhumane behavior.
An innocent person was killed by those who wanted to satisfy their belly’s appetite, breaking set out regulations simply to get what they want.
A lot of people are deprived of being educated, healthy ad wealthy because of some devious political maneuvering and unjust decisions for the benefit of a few at the expense of many.
Of course this is senseless because we voted them in, so that we can get the best for this country.
The best that could be done to deal with the killing is for the chiefs of that island to stand together and impose stringent measures to control their people from being involved again with such senseless killing.
They should not just make peace without punishing those who were involved in the killing according to the severity of the case.
Likewise the political parties must exercise strict discipline within the party to uphold integrity, so that they can better serve the people they promised to give their best to.
It is therefore very sad indeed, when the country sees glimpses of hope, when the highest level took actions to rectify wrongs only to be seen reverting back to the wrongs a short while later.
There is of course a lot of good in everybody but each much decide and choose not to be involved in corrupt ways.
Such a woman or a man, one must vote for in the upcoming election. This is because righteousness upholds a nation while non righteousness tears it down.
