PIC to represent Vanuatu Tourism in Japan
Due to financial constraints, the Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) Board of Directors, in its December 2009 meeting, has agreed to terminate the VTO representation Office in Japan at the end of March 2010.
The VTO recognizes the important role that this office has played and would especially like to commend Mr Tomita Hiroshi for playing a huge part in raising Vanuatu’s profile in Japan.
During the years Tomita-san represented VTO the number of visitors from Japan have increased until 2008 when there was a decrease by 21% due to economic conditions in Japan.
However, in 2009 the numbers were increase again by 9% despite the global crisis and this was due in part to efforts by Mr Tomita-san.
For this reason we would like to take this opportunity to thank Tomita-san for all the work he has done.
Thank you Tomita-san for your dedication and the effort you have put in promoting Vanuatu to increase the visitor arrival figures from Japan to Vanuatu.
The management and Directors of VTO recognize your efforts and would like to wish you well in your next existing endeavour.
On this note I am also pleased to introduce PIC as the main point of contact for VTO from now on.
The Vanuatu Tourism Office Board recognizes that there is need to have someone in Japan so have endorsed the Pacific Island Centre (PIC) as the VTO’s main contact in Japan for any general enquiries regarding Vanuatu with effect from April 2010.
